Research
ELB Expertise provides written research for works of art in your possession or potential acquisitions.
The written research generally contains:
- photocopies of records
- photographs or drawings of works used as references for comparisons
- the provenance (former owners)
- tracing of sales and exhibitions of the work (source, origin)
- description of the work and labels on the frame/canvas
- attribution to an artist or his workshop
- signature, date, techniques, size, period
- quality, rarity, importance, medium, material
- physical condition (restoration/damage)
- literature or historical significance
Depending on the circumstances, the cost of a written research will either be charged by the hour or as a project fee.
